Civil Beat is still collecting submissions as we approach the first anniversary of the Maui fires. Send yours today.
A week from today, it will have been a year since fires tore through Lahaina.
Civil Beat has spent the past couple of weeks collecting letters from those who knew Lahaina best as we approach this somber milestone.
Our staff has been touched by your memories, stories and hope for Lahaina’s future. We wanted to share excerpts from a few early responses that we’ve received.
We hope to get even more letters as we approach the one-year anniversary, particularly from people who have called Maui home. Share your letter to Lahaina now or scroll on for more details explaining what we’re looking for.
We’ll be posting these on Instagram, Facebook and here on the Civil Beat website as we get closer to the anniversary of the fires.
